New 2018 Mercedes unveiled with promising features from new technology

Since 1995 and the introduction of the Mercedes Sprinter, there has been roughly 3.4 million units delivered across the globe.

In June 2018 a new generation of Mercedes Sprinter panel van will arrive packed full of the latest Mercedes-Benz technology and a brand new facelift to match.

Designed to offer technologically advanced solutions with a wide range of body, chassis and seating options, Mercedes have always strived to meet every kind of business requirement including front and rear-wheel drive options on the Sprinter with some models offering a load floor that's 80mm lower to improve load volume and access.

The front-wheel variant is lighter than its rear-wheel counterpart by up to 50kg, a key opportunity for fleet users to save on running costs by going for the smallest capacity engine available, without compromising on van flexibility. Engines ranging from 113bhp to 188bhp will be available, while six-speed manual and optional seven-speed 7G-Tronic gearboxes will be offered.

The Sprinter will come with some popular standard equipment such as adaptive cruise control and a range of safety electronics, Adaptive stability control and Crosswind assist, a system that will brake each wheel independently to prevent the van from rolling, making it one of the safest large vans on the market.

The front-wheel-drive Sprinter is available with wheelbases up to 3.9 metres, while the rear-wheel-drive model will be offered with a wheelbase of up to 4.3 metres.

Mercedes emphasise their main focus in designing their vehicles for the ease of driving them, added extras such as a parking package with park assist are available to help drivers negotiate difficult driving environments. Passenger variants will be offered with air suspension, while the MBUX infotainment system, debuted on the new A-Class hatchback will be available too.

There will be a varied range of body styles to suit the different needs of its customer, including standard, long and extra-long panel vans, different wheelbases, standard and high-roof variants, passenger versions, crew cabs and chassis cabs. The crew cab and chassis variants will be able to accommodate a wide variety of bespoke rear ends, such as chilled storage and emergency service modules.
